According to Poltava GOK’s income statement, the Company has contracted its net sales in FY2009 by 12.4% (in UAH terms) to USD 505.6 mln.

Russia to impose taxes upon Ukraine’s pipes: NEGATIVE

Russia is ending the duty free import of Ukraine’s pipes, Ukrainian news reported. The rationale behind this decision is that there is no new agreed quota on the importation of Ukraine’s pipes by Russia. The quota determines quarterly amount of pipe, which Ukraine may export to Russia duty free. However the countries have not set the quota for 2Q10.

CISA urges to stop iron ore import: NEUTRAL
China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), which combines 119 iron and steel producers of China, appealed to its members to boycott iron ore import from three world biggest iron ore producers BHP Billiton, Vale and Rio Tinto for two months. The organization blames the “big three” for price collusion and iron ore price growth.

Pig iron capacity utilization at MMKI reached its maximum
Mariupol Illich ISW in March utilized almost 100% of its pig iron capacity, Metal-Courier reported. Last month the Company managed to increase pig iron output by 22% MoM or by 79 thsd tonnes to 433 thsd tonnes.

Ukraine's coke output in 1Q10 up 13%
Ukraine’s cokemakers in 1Q10 managed to increase coke output by 13% YoY to 4.55 mln tonnes. This information was reported by Ukrcoke association.

Ferrexpo's pellets output up 23.4% YoY in 1Q10: POSITIVE

Ferrexpo [FXPO LN], Ukraine’s second largest iron ore producer, which controls Poltava GOK [PGOK UZ] increased its pellet output by 23.4% YoY in 1Q10 to 2.34 mln tonnes. These results were published by Interfax.

Vale & BHP change global iron ore pricing model: POSITIVE
According to Interfax, world-leading iron ore producers BHP Billiton and Vale will apply a new iron ore pricing model, based on short-term contracts. The new model should factor in changes in prices on the spot iron ore market.

Court imposes ban on MMKI’s AGM: NEUTRAL
According to Interfax, the Economic Court of Donetsk Region marginally imposed a ban on Mariupol Illich ISW [MMKI UZ] holding its AGM. The decision was taken to secure claims made by eight former shareholders, which implicates top management of buying out their shares in an underhanded way in the period 1997-2004.
