The Interpipe Novomoskovsk Pipe-Rolling Plant [NVTR UZ, BUY] produced 25.4 thsd mt of pipes in August, down 14% from the 7M08 monthly average of 29.5 thsd mt but up 14% from July’s 22.3 thsd mt. The 8M08 output of 232 thsd mt is up 22% YoY.

POSITIVE, because the drop from the 7M08 level is smaller than that of Ukrainian peers, and because the volumes have increased from last month’s low level of 368 thsd mt. We think that Metinvest is very well positioned to survive the ongoing severe seasonal correction in the steel markets.
