Bogdan Corporation triples its bus production

During January-July 2010, Bogdan Corporation (owner of the Bogdan Automobile Plant [LUAZ UZ]) reported a 2.94 times increase rise in its YoY bus and trolleybus production, to 518 units. Bogdan Corporation assembles buses at the Bogdan Automobile Plant and Cherkasskyi Avtobus facilities (a 74.58% share belongs to the Bogdan Automobile Plant). According to the company press release, a 40% increase in demand by CIS countries was the major driver for this production increase.

Antonov sells 2 An-148 planes

According to Ukranews agency, Antonov State Company has signed a contract on supplying 2 An-148 planes powered by Motorsich (MSICH) engines with Ilushin Finance Co leasing company. Planes are to be transferred to a client in South-East Asia by the end of 2011. This is the first contract on An-148 purchase out of the CIS. The first plane is to be supplied during a half a year since contract date (July 30, 2010).

Turboatom increases order portfolio

According to Ukranews agency, Turboatom (TATM) has concluded a contract on hydro turbine modernization with Novosibirsk hydro-electric generating plant (Russia). Turboatom will supply and install over 800 tons of equipment till the end of November 2011 in accordance with the contract. Contract price has not been published.

Luganskteplovoz raises production by 33%

According to a massage by Interfax-Ukraine, in January-July 2010 Luganskteplovoz (LTPL), has increased production by 33% YoY to $48.88mln. The figure includes 30 locomotives (ordered mostly by clients in Russia and Kazakhstan) and spare parts. MoM production increase accounted approximately 300%.

Turboatom supplies turbine modernization equipment to Russia According to Ukranews agency, by July 31, 2010 Turboatom (TATM), a large Ukrainian producer of turbine equipment has supplied equipment for modernizing turbines on Leningradskaya nuclear power plant (Russia).

According to Ukranews agency report, during January-June 2010 Motorsich (MSICH) received a net profit of USD 53.63mln, raising net income by 55.9% YoY to USD 122.33mln.

Azovmash supplies convertor to ArcellorMittal Annaba
According to Ukranews agency, Azovmash (owner of Azovzagalmash (AZGM) and Mariupol Heavy Machinery (MZVM)) has supplied a 60-ton convertor to port Annaba (Algeria) for ArcellorMittal Annaba metallurgical plant.

Motorsich An-148 engine contract under threat
According to Ukranews, “Rossia” airlines has transferred a test An-148 plane to the Voronezh Air Plant, to test the possibility of upgrading the originally specified engines produced by Motorsich (MSICH) with French SaM146 engines.

KVBZ increased output in 1H 2010 by 396% YoY
Kryukiv Railcar [KVBZ UZ, BUY], one of the leading Ukrainian railcar producers, has reported the production of 4329 freight railcars in 1H 2010, which is 25% higher than the 1H 2009 figure of 3456 cars.

ZATR to deliver 7 transformers to Russia
Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, BUY], one the world's largest manufacturers of transformer equipment, intends to deliver seven transformers for HPP-1 Ekibastuzskaya, Ltd., Kazakhstan. The total capacity of seven transformers is 1688 MVA.
