From January-September 2010, Ukrainian automotive companies decreased vehicle production by 9% YoY to 53.5 thsd units. Car production dropped 15% YoY to 47.8 thsd units, while production of trucks grew 2.1 times to 3.7 thsd, buses – 2.4 times YoY to 1.9thsd units. The MoM automobile production increase in September amounted to 24%.

Kryukivka Carriage [KVBZ UK] has increased train car production 4.1 times YoY to 6923 units. A MoM production decline in September amounted to 15%.

In January-September 2010 Bogdan Corporation, owner of Bogdan Motors [LUAZ UK] has doubled production of buses and trolleybuses YoY to 699 units. Active export policy of the company remains the main production sales increase driver as Bogdan Corporation exports 70% of its products.

Bogdan Motors [LUAZ UK] has announced the launch of production of a new vehicle, the A049 extra small class bus, at the TIR 2010 International truck and commercial vehicle exhibition. The plant plans to produce 130 A049 buses in 2010, with incremental production increases to 300 units per month by 2014. The share of extra small buses on the Ukrainian bus market in 2010 increased to 14% from 11% in 2009.

Between January and September 2010, Luganskteplovoz [LTPL UK] increased its production by 70% to USD 67.8 mln. In natural indicators, production reached 42 locomotive sections; 4 more locomotives are to be produced in October for Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukrainian railways).

Between January and September 2010, AvtoKrAZ Holding [KRAZ UK] increased sales of trucks by 86.5% YoY to 763 units. Production grew 5.5 times YoY to 644 units. The company is currently negotiating to attract a European partner for designing a new truck.

AvtoKrAZ Holding [KRAZ UK] has finished designing and is now producing its first experimental four-wheeled forward control truck, the KrAZ N.12.0. The new truck is to become a platform for a new model range for the company, starting with a 23-ton six-wheeled truck to be designed in November. The company has announced its plans to double production to 3 thsd units a year in 2011.

Municipal automobile transport companies of Kharkov, Lvov, and Donetsk – 3 of 5 cities that will accommodate final matches of EURO 2012 – have announced their plans to purchase buses and trolleybuses produced by Lvov Automobile Plant (LAZ). The total order volume of these cities will reach 278 trolleybuses and 102 buses, at an overall cost of USD 111 mln. Earlier, Bogdan Motors [LUAZ UK] had announced its plans to supply at least 50% of the municipal buses and trolleybuses for EURO 2012.

04.10.10 – Motor Sich [MSICH UK] has finished construction of a new helicopter engine service plant in Dubno (Moscow region) at a total cost of USD 5mln. The plant is to operate for the benefit of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The company has developed a new MS-500V engine for the Russian Ansat training helicopter. The engine is designed for helicopters with takeoff mass of up to 6 tons and will also be used in other international projects. Production plans include at least 20 helicopters.

The regional administrative court of Crimea has invalidated the claim by Lviv Automobile Plant (LAZ) regarding violation of tender rules on a tender for supplying 61 trolleybuses to Crimea, which was won by Bogdan Motors [LUAZ UK]. However, Hyundai Truck, another competitor for the tender, has also filed a complaint regarding the competition results.
