Bogdan Corporation Wins Major Tender in Georgia: POSITIVE

The Bogdan Corporation, one of the largest producers on the Ukrainian automobile market, has won a tender for the supply of 83 buses to Batumi, Georgia. Serhiy Krasulia, the Press Secretary of the Bogdan Corporation, explained that these are small class A 092 buses. They were ordered by the Batumi City Administration.

SMASH To Provide USD 65 mln in Equipment to Gazprom: POSITIVE

Sumy Frunze Machine Building [SMASH UZ, N/R], one of largest European producers of equipment for the oil, gas, and chemical industries, plans to supply four gas pumping devices worth USD 65 mln to Russia’s natural gas monopoly Gazprom for use at the Griazovetskaya compressor station. The deal is worth USD 65 mln and is to be completed by July 2009, the contract for which was signed back in September.

Azovmash Sales Rise to UAH 5.3 bln for 10M2008: POSITIVE

The Open Joint Stock Company ‘Azovmash’ has increased its sales in the first ten months of 2008 up to UAH 5.3 bln. This represents a significant increase of 60% over the same period last year. This information was disclosed by the company’s press service.

For the first nine months of 2008, the Zaporizhia-Based Open Joint Stock Company ‘Motor Sich’ [MSICH UZ, U/R] experienced a drop in its net profit to UAH 21.57 mln – this is a decrease of 7.7 times YoY.

Sokrat: Luhanskteplovoz Output Sees Significant Increase in 10M2008

Luhanskteplovoz [LTPL UZ, U/R], one of the largest locomotive producers in Ukraine and the CIS, increased production 2.4 times YoY in 10M2008 to USD 172 mln in real terms. These statistics were quoted by Interfax Ukraine.

UkrAVTO Postpones Joint Venture with General Motors: NEUTRAL

The Ukrainian Automobile Association [AVTO UZ, N/R], otherwise known as the UkrAVTO Corporation, has postponed the creation of a joint venture with the U.S. company General Motors Corp. (trademark GM). The project was to be established on the basis of the Fabryka samochodow osobowych (FSO), a car factory in Warsaw. This information was relayed by FSO Press Secretary Christina Danilchik.

UkrAVTO Turns to Exports, Diversification as Output Drops: POSITIVE

UkrAVTO [AVTO UZ, N/R] – Ukraine`s biggest car-maker and dealer – has announced that it is cutting production at the Zaporizhzhya car factory (ZAZ) by 40% in response to the current financial crisis. ZAZ output dropped by roughly 7.9% YoY to 22,740 cars in September, down from 24,690 in September 2007.

Sokrat: Kryukiv Railcar to supply 200 wagons to Ukrzaliznytsya: POSITIVE

Ukraine’s State Railway Transport Administration ‘Ukraliznytsya’ plans to acquire 200 passenger railcars from the Open Joint Stock Company Kryukiv Railcar [KVBZ UZ, BUY] in 2009. This announcement was made by Ukraine's Minister of Transportation and Communication Yosif Vinsky during Tuesday’s working visit to the Kremenchug, Poltava Region, where the company’s plant is based.

Sokrat: LUAZ Releases Financial Results for Jan-Sep: POSITIVE

The Bogdan Automobile Plant [LUAZ UZ, BUY] has reported on its results for the first nine months of 2008, in accordance with Ukrainian accounting standards. In the period January-September 2008, the plant produced 70,427 cars, which represents an increase in output by 92% (or 33,752 cars), compared with the same period in 2007.

Sokrat: Stakhaniv Wagon Boosts Liquidity, Increases Output: POSITIVE

Stakhaniv Railcar Works [SVGZ UZ, BUY], one of the largest wagon producers in Ukraine and part of the AvtoKrAZ holding, has announced that it will double its statutory capital to UAH 79.236 mln, according to Interfax-Ukraine. This decision was made at a general meeting of the company's shareholders, which took place on October 6. At that time, they approved the results concerning the additionally-issued shares and corresponding amendments to the statute. In total, the number of shares placed equals 37,731,585 shares, each of which has a face value of UAH 1.05.
