The Zaporizhya-based Motor Sich [MSICH UZ, BUY] company – the largest producer of aviation jets and gas-turbine units in the CIS – has announced its intention to supply of helicopter engines to Indian forces by the end of 2014.
The Zaporizhya Car Assembly plant (ZAZ) – the largest producer of cars in Ukraine – issued a statement noting that it recorded losses of UAH 390.576 mln for 2008, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
The Kharkiv-based OJSC Turboatom [TATM UZ, HOLD] – the largest turbine manufacturer in Ukraine and one of the largest energy equipment producers in the world – has announced that its net profit for 2008 grew by 19.7% YoY to UAH 41.8 mln.
Luhanskteplovoz [LTPL UZ, U/R], one of the largest locomotive producers in Ukraine and the CIS, increased sales in 2008 by 2.6 times YoY to about UAH 1.284 bln. This estimate is based on preliminary data and was released by a company source to Interfax-Ukraine.
Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, N/R] – the world's largest manufacturer of transformer equipment – has announced its intention to supply transformer equipment to Russia in the summer of 2009 for the reconstruction of the 500 kW "Frolovskaya" power substation (OJSC "Federal Grid Company, Unified Electrical Grid System", Central Trunk Electrical Network of the Russian Federation).
According to preliminary data, the Kremenchug-based AvtoKrAZ holding company [KRAZ UZ, N/R] – the only Ukrainian manufacturer of heavy trucks – recorded a net profit of UAH 75.292 bln in 2008, which is an increase of 1.6% over that achieved in 2007.

The Luhansk-based Stakhaniv Railcar Works [SVGZ UZ, BUY], one of the largest wagon producers in Ukraine and part of the AvtoKrAZ holding, reported that it produced 5,511 cargo wagons in 2008, which is down by 0.8% YoY.

The Bogdan Corporation has announced that it is, so far, not ruling out the possibility that the company may have to lay off 2,000 of the 10,000 personnel presently employed at its enterprises over the period of January-March 2009.
