Ukrzaliznitsya (UZ) signed a leasing agreement with Luhanskteplovoz [LTPL UZ, U/R] for the supply of six electric locomotives, four electric trains, two diesel trains, and one shunting locomotive.

Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, N/R] – the world's largest manufacturer of transformer equipment – has announced its intention to supply 11 transformers to the Iranian company MAPNA (Iran Power Plant Project Management Company). The contract, which is worth EUR 19 mln, is to be fulfilled by April 2010.

The Bogdan Automobile Plant [LUAZ UZ, BUY] has issued a press release stating that the company finished with an overall loss of UAH 317.744 mln.

The Kharkiv-based OJSC Turboatom [TATM UZ, HOLD] – the largest turbine manufacturer in Ukraine and one of the largest energy equipment producers in the world – has announced that its revenue grew by 48% to UAH 552 mln, net profit grew by 4.4 times to reach UAH 145.4 mln in 2008.

The "AIS" Corporation has announced that the Kremenchug Car Factory (KrASZ) has suspended production until April due to the economic crisis. According to its press service, the assembly line was halted temporarily due to a non-win situation in all sectors of Ukraine’s economy at the moment. The company expects to resume operations in April.

Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, N/R] – the world's largest manufacturer of transformer equipment – has announced its preliminary financial results for 2008 in advance of its annual shareholder meeting, which will take place on March 31.

Sumy Frunze Machine Building [SMASH UZ, N/R], one of largest European producers of equipment for the oil, gas, and chemical industries, has reported on the successful delivery of gas transfer station equipment to Uzbekistan, which will be used for an underground Gazli gas storage facility. According to Interfax, this equipment is valued at approximately USD 75 mln.

On February 16, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Bolivian President Evo Morales signed a new intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation.

The UkrAVTO Corporation [AVTO UZ, N/R] – Ukraine's biggest car-maker and dealer, which is also known as the Ukrainian Automobile Association – finished 2008 with a net profit of UAH 521.265 mln.

The Azovmash group increased sales in 2008 up to UAH 5.9 bln.
