UkrAvto records USD 33 mln EBITA in 1Q09: POSITIVE

According to a press release, Ukraine’s largest passenger vechilcle producer, UkrAvto [AVTO UZ, N/R], which includes the ZAZ car assembly plant, recorded EBITDA USD 33 mln and pre tax profit at level of USD 10.4 mln in 1Q09.

SMASH deal with Gazprom shrank by 30%: MIXED

According to the press service of Sumy Frunze Machine Building [SMASH UZ, N/R] – one of Europe’s largest producers of equipment for the oil, gas, and chemical industries – the company will complete the delivery compressors to Gazrprom by the end of June 2009.

TATM delivered equipment to Afghanistan’s HPP: NEUTRAL

According to a press release, Kharkiv-based OJSC Turboatom [TATM UZ, HOLD] – the largest turbine manufacturer in Ukraine – has completed delivery of power equipment to “Naglu’ Hydro Power Plant (HPP) in Afghanistan. The value of this order is USD 3.4 mln.

Will KVBZ participate in Kyiv metro tender? –we think so

Kyiv Metro released an announcement regarding a request to the Kyiv City Council to approve a leasing deal for 100 metro cars. The deal’s value is estimated at UAH 800 mln (USD 104 mln). A down payment equal to 15%, or UAH 120 mln, will be made in 2009 and other leasing payments will occur over 2010-2014.

ZATR signs new contract with HPP in Kyrgyzstan: POSITIVE

According to a press release from Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, N/R] – the world's largest manufacturer of transformer equipment – the company has signed a new contract with Kambaratinskoy Hydro Power Plant (HPP) in Kyrgyzstan. The new block power transformer will be delivered to the client by the end of September 2009. The value of the contract has not been disclosed yet due to an agreement between the partners.

TATM plans to increase CAPEX to USD 2.6 mln in 2009: POSITIVE

According to a press release from Kharkiv-based Turboatom [TATM UZ, HOLD] – the largest turbine manufacturer in Ukraine – the company has plans to increase CAPEX to USD 2.6 mln. mainly for modernizing and developing its production facilities in 2009. TATM has already announced plans to complete the first stage of its workshop N50 reconstruction by the end of 2009, which will allow the company to increase the quality of its castings.

TATM signs new contract with Iran’s FFPP: POSITIVE

According to a press release, Kharkiv-based OJSC Turboatom [TATM UZ, HOLD] – the largest turbine manufacturer in Ukraine – has signed a new contract with Iran’s Azar-Ab company to supply an FFPP (Fossil-Fuelled Power Plant). The plant will receive two new power turbines, each with a capacity of 315MW. The contract calls for the new turbines to be delivered to Iran’s FFPP in the next 24 months.

MSICH’s net profit increased by 23% to $4.8mln in 1Q09: POSITIVE

According to Interfax, Motor Sich [MSICH UZ, BUY], a large aviation engines producer in Ukraine, recorded 1Q09 net sales of USD 51 mln (-41 YoY). EBITDA increased by 4% to USD 11 mln and net profit rose by 23% to USD 4.8 mln (though in grivnya terms net profit almost doubled), EBITDA margin was 21.5% (+9.4bpp), net margin 9.5% (+4.9bpp).

YAMZ records USD 12.5 net loss in 2008: NEGATIVE

Yasinovatskiy Machinery Plant [YAMZ UZ, N/R], a Ukrainian maker of mining machinery equipment, produced a net loss of USD 12.5 mln in 2008. According to the company information, YAMZ ended 2007 with net profit USD 0.05 mln. Net sales in 2008 increased by 49.8% to USD 36.9 mln.

Azovmash records UAH 0.7 mln profit in 1Q09: NEUTRAL

According to a press release issued by the Azovmash holding, which includes freight railway producers Azovhalmash [AZGM UZ, U/R] and Mariupol Heavy Machinery Plant [MZVM UZ, U/R], the company ended 1Q09 with a net profit of UAH 0.655 mln. Net sales for the same period decreased by 23.4% to UAH 14,511 mln.
