LUAZ increases production to 1.1 thsd cars

Bohdan Motors [LUAZ UZ, U/R] reported that 1104 cars were produced in February 2010, a level that is 14.3 times higher than in January 2010. However, it is still 60.8% lower than in January 2009.

Azovmash boosts sales by 30% YoY

Azovmash, one of the largest Ukrainian machinery holdings, increased sales by 30% YoY in February-January 2010 to UAH 699 mln. The biggest growth was seen in the freight railcar segment (+40% YoY).

Dniprovagonmash posts USD 17 mln net loss

Dniprovagonmash [DNVM UZ, BUY], a Ukrainian railcar producer, reported a net loss of UAH 137 mln (about USD 17 mln) in 2009. In comparison, the Company posted a UAH 163.3 net income in 2008.

Kryukiv Railcar posts USD 9 mln net income for 2009

Kryukiv Railcar [KVBZ UZ, BUY], a leading Ukrainian railcar producer, posted a net income of USD 8.8 mln in 2009 (UAH 71.5 mln). The recorded amount is 5.6 times less than achieved in 2008.

AvtoKrAZ posted USD 3.9 net income in 2009

AvtoKrAZ [KRZ UZ, N/R], a Ukrainian producer of trucks, posted a net income of USD 3.9 mln (UAH 30.9) in 2009, implying a 8.1% decline YoY.

In January 2010, Bohdan Motors [LUAZ UZ, U/R] produced only 107 cars. This figure implies a remarkable drop of 86.6% MoM and 91.2% YoY.

Dniprovagonmash boosts output to ‘pre-crisis’ levels

Dniprovagonmash [DNVM UZ, BUY], a Ukrainian railcar producer, produced 300 cars in January 2010, according to Interfax Ukraine. The Plant produced 364 cars in the whole of 2009, which averages out to be about 30 cars per month.

Ukrainian Railways announces plans for 2010

Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ), otherwise known as Ukrainian Railways, has announced its intentions to repair 30.8 thsd railcars in 2010 and to purchase 2.225 thsd new railcars. It also plans to execute capital repairs of 1.4 thsd railcars, and to extend the useful operational life for another 1 thsd railcars.

MSICH to finish testing helicopter engine in 2010

Motor Sich [MSICH UZ, BUY], the largest CIS producer of the aviation engines, plans to finish testing of the MC-500B helicopter engine in 2010. This engine was developed for light class helicopters and is intended to be installed in the Russian Ansant helicopter, which experienced some problems with Pratt & Whitney’s engines. As a result, they plan to use Motor Sich’s engines instead of the Canadian ones.

Ukrainian Railways continues to repair railcars

The South-Western Ukrainian railway intends to repair 844 passenger railcars in 2010. It is planned to conduct capital repairs of 57 railcars with in order to further prolong their period of exploitation. As well, 16 passenger railcars should be modernized by replacing their interior and a further 673 railcars should be exposed to minor repair.
