In September 2008, cement production in Ukraine declined by 6.2% to 1,428 metric tons, compared to September 2007.

Ukraine’s telecommunications giant Ukrtelecom [UTEL UZ, U/R] has expanded its broadband Internet customer base to 500,000 as of October 1st. This is an increase from 206,000 subscribers at the end of 2007.

The State Statistics Committee of Ukraine released figures on real industrial output growth in September 2008.

Yasynivka Coke [YASK UZ, U/R] produced 130 thsd mt of 6% water content gross coke in September, 8% lower than in August and 7% lower than the average monthly 8M08 level of 140 thsd mt.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, which has reported coke production numbers for September, the total 6% water content gross coke output of Ukrainian coke makers amounted to 1.46 mln mt last month.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, Bagliy Coke [BKOK UZ, U/R] dropped output 23% MoM in September to 50 thsd mt. This is 22% lower than the average 8M08 value of 64 thsd mt.

In September, Avdiivka Coke [AVDK UZ, U/R] decreased output of 6% water content gross coke by 33% MoM to 252 thsd mt, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

Mostobud [MTBD UZ, BUY] has been announced as the contractor for a new 4-star hotel construction project in Kyiv. Led by the development company “Dominion Kyiv”, the “Peresvet Plaza Hotel 4” is scheduled to open in the capital in 2010.
