Changes made by NBU’s resolution #49: POSITIVE

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced that it will allow commercial banks to provide the restructuring of loans attracted by individuals, taking into account the financial state of the borrowers, and to raise the category by one level for restructured loan transactions with those borrowers who are able to confirm their ability to repay their loans and are registered as good.

UTEL to double interconnection fee with mobile players: MIXED

Ukraine’s giant telecommunications company Ukrtelecom [UTEL UZ, U/R] – the country’s fixed-line incumbent – is going to double interconnection charges for M2F (mobile to fixed line calls) with mobile operators from UAH 0.25 to UAH 0.5 According to company officials, UTEL consider the old contract regarding interconnection fees to already be invalid.

According to a recent note from the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, CPI grew 2.9% MoM (22.3% YoY), while PPI grew 0.2% MoM (20.4% YoY).

Creativ Group posts net income of USD 0.5 mln: POSITIVE

The Creativ Group [4C8A GR, N/R], a Ukrainian vegetable oil and fat producer, increased its net income in 2008 by 90.7% YoY to USD 0.5 mln. The company’s assets totaled USD 19.3 mln.

NCRC to Increase Urban Fixed Phone Fees by 10-20%: POSITIVE

The National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC) has initiated the process for increasing the ceiling for subscription fees for fixed phone numbers in cities and district centers by 10-20%. The new fee will be UAH 16.44-33.81 per month.

ZATR secures new contract with Russia: POSITIVE

Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, N/R] – the world's largest manufacturer of transformer equipment – has announced its intention to supply transformer equipment to Russia in the summer of 2009 for the reconstruction of the 500 kW "Frolovskaya" power substation (OJSC "Federal Grid Company, Unified Electrical Grid System", Central Trunk Electrical Network of the Russian Federation).

DOEN’s net income fell by 35% in 2008: NEGATIVE

Power generating company Donbasenergo [DOEN UZ, BUY], which operates fossil fuelled facilities in eastern Ukraine, has decreased its preliminary estimated net income by 35.3% to UAH 17.2 mln (USD 3.3 mln) for the year ending 31 December 2008.

Ukraine NPLs increased by 96 b.p. in 2008: NEGATIVE

The share of bad loans in the overall amount of loans provided by Ukrainian banks in 2008 climbed by 0.96 percentage points, to 2.27% by January 1, 2009.
