Astarta’s major shareholders increased their stakes: NEUTRAL

Astarta’s [AST PW, BUY] major shareholders – Viktor Ivanchyk and Valeriy Korotkov – bought 93.8 thsd (0.38%) additional shares in Astarta holding. As a result, the company’s free float slightly decreased to 19.62%.

Azovmash decreases wagon output by 20%YoY in 1Q09: NEUTRAL

According to the Ukrainian news agency, Azovmash, one of the leading enterprises in Ukraine’s heavy engineering sector, which includes freight railway producers Azovhalmash [AZGM UZ, U/R], Mariupol Heavy Machinery Plant [MZVM UZ, U/R] and Poltavkhimmash [PHMSH UZ, U/R] – decreased freight car output by 19.7% YoY to 3032 units in 1Q09.

UTLM mobile users rise by 5.7% MoM in May 2009: NEUTRAL

According to IKS-Consulting’s monthly statistics, the number of Ukrtelecom [UTLM UZ, U/R] mobile users increased by 5.7% MoM to 277.6 thsd clients in May 2009. Overall, the number of mobile users decreased by a meager 0.2% to 55.13 mln customers. The penetration level decreased by 0.2% to 119.6%.

Telco sector revenue increased by 2% MoM to USD498 mln in May: POSITIVE

According to the State Statistics Committee, telecommunications revenue increased by 2% MoM in May to USD 498 mln. Revenue from urban and rural fixed line services increased by a meager 0.1% and 2.9% respectively; intake from domestic long distance (DLD) and international long distance (ILD) was boosted by 23.9% MoM and 70.9% MoM respectively.

SMASH will deliver 3 new gas turbine units to Surgutneftegaz: POSITIVE

According to the press service of Sumy Frunze Machine Building [SMASH UZ, N/R] – one of Europe’s largest producers of equipment for the oil, gas, and chemical industries – the company will deliver three gas turbine power generation units to a Russian company, Surgutneftegaz, by April 2010.

Government to purchase domestic busses for Euro 2012: NEUTRAL

According to Kommersant newspaper, as of June 18, the Ukrainian government had not discussed the question of purchasing new busses from local producers in preparation for the Euro 2012 football championship. A day earlier, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko stated that local bus producers could supply the required number of busses for Euro 2012.

MCB Agricole operational update: NEUTRAL

MCB Agricole [4GW1 GR, BUY], a Ukrainian agricultural producer with a land bank of 100 thsd ha, has started its harvesting campaign in Crimea and in Odesa region. The total area sown with winter crops amounts to 63.2 thsd ha. For the harvesting campaign Agricole is going to use 139 agricultural machines (41% own machinery, 59% leased).
