Ukraine’s total governmental debt (direct) and guaranteed debt increased by 5.4%, to USD 48.3 bln, during August 2010, posting 21.3% YTD growth.

Fitch has assigned Kernel [KER PW, U/R] a long-term foreign currency IDR of “B”

Fitch Ratings has assigned Kernel [KER PW, U/R] the long-term foreign and local currency issuer default ratings (IDRs) of “B” and “B+”, respectively. Fitch has also assigned Kernel a national long-term rating of “AA+” (ukr). The outlooks for the long-term IDRs and the national long-term rating are stable.

AvtoKrAZ designs new trucks and plans to double production

AvtoKrAZ Holding [KRAZ UK] has finished designing and is now producing its first experimental four-wheeled forward control truck, the KrAZ N.12.0. The new truck is to become a platform for a new model range for the company, starting with a 23-ton six-wheeled truck to be designed in November. The company has announced its plans to double production to 3 thsd units a year in 2011.

Bogdan Motors fails to win tenders for EURO 2012

Municipal automobile transport companies of Kharkov, Lvov, and Donetsk – 3 of 5 cities that will accommodate final matches of EURO 2012 – have announced their plans to purchase buses and trolleybuses produced by Lvov Automobile Plant (LAZ). The total order volume of these cities will reach 278 trolleybuses and 102 buses, at an overall cost of USD 111 mln. Earlier, Bogdan Motors [LUAZ UK] had announced its plans to supply at least 50% of the municipal buses and trolleybuses for EURO 2012.

Coke output in Ukraine almost flat in September

Ukraine’s producers maintained coke output in September (+1.6% MoM), while for 9M10 they managed to increase production by 7.2% YoY. This information was published by the Ukrcoke Association.

Interim grain harvest reaches 35.3 mln tonnes

Agricultural companies in Ukraine harvested 35.3 mln tonnes of grain and leguminous crops as of October 1, with an average yield of 2.64 tonne per ha. Agricultural companies processed only 13.4 mln ha of sowing area this season. Agrarians have now sown about 6.2 mln ha with winter crops.

Motor Sich finishes construction of a new plant in Russia

04.10.10 – Motor Sich [MSICH UK] has finished construction of a new helicopter engine service plant in Dubno (Moscow region) at a total cost of USD 5mln. The plant is to operate for the benefit of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The company has developed a new MS-500V engine for the Russian Ansat training helicopter. The engine is designed for helicopters with takeoff mass of up to 6 tons and will also be used in other international projects. Production plans include at least 20 helicopters.

Steel output in Ukraine up 6% MoM in September

Metal Courier reports Ukraine’s steelmakers showed September steel output up 6% MoM (+11% YoY in 9M10) to 2,744 mln tonnes.

Motor Sich receives contracts and designs first Ukrainian serial helicopter

HESA, an Iran based aircraft producer has announced its plans on constructing 30 An-140 planes before 2015 powered by engines constructed by Motor Sich [MSICH UK]. Motor Sich has also announced plans to construct a new 6-ton helicopter with overall capacity of 12 passengers by the end of 2012. This will be the first Ukrainian serial helicopter. Ilushin Finance (Russia) announced plans of purchasing 9 An-148 planes for GTK Russia airlines, however it is unclear if aircrafts will be powered by Motor Sich engines as the dispute on replacing engines with Russian ones is still unsolved.
