Ukrainian pipe output: uniformly down in Jan

Ukrainian pipes and tubes production for January, 84 thsd mt, is down 30% MoM. Earlier, we reported a 62% MoM drop, which was wrong due to an incorrect December production value used in the comparison.

AvtoKrAZ increased net profit by 1.6% in 2008: POSITIVE

According to preliminary data, the Kremenchug-based AvtoKrAZ holding company [KRAZ UZ, N/R] – the only Ukrainian manufacturer of heavy trucks – recorded a net profit of UAH 75.292 bln in 2008, which is an increase of 1.6% over that achieved in 2007.

Ukraine to rank as fourth-fifth global exporter in 2008/09: POSITIVE

Ukraine has exported a total 13 mln mt of grain in the period July 2008 to January 2009. However, grain exports in January 2009 lost its temp and the monthly grain export totaled 1.6 mln mt. In particular, 0.7 mln mt of this was mainly fodder grain, 0.6 mln mt of corn, and 0.3 mln mt of barley.

RODB statutory fund increased 161%: MIXED

The shareholders meeting of Rodovid Bank [RODB UZ, N/R] – the 19th biggest bank in Ukraine in terms of assets – decided to increase the bank’s statutory fund 161% by UAH 700 mln (USD 90.9 mln) to UAH 1.135 bln (USD 147.4 mln).

Ukraine’s giant telecommunications company Ukrtelecom [UTEL UZ, U/R] – the country’s fixed-line incumbent – has decided to issue two discount bonds of the “H” and “I” series for UAH 250 mln.

The Zaporizhya-based Motor Sich [MSICH UZ, BUY] company – the largest producer of aviation jets and gas-turbine units in the CIS – has announced its intention to increase its supply of helicopter engines to Russia by 20%.

Stakhaniv Railcar’s output slid in 2008: NEUTRAL

The Luhansk-based Stakhaniv Railcar Works [SVGZ UZ, BUY], one of the largest wagon producers in Ukraine and part of the AvtoKrAZ holding, reported that it produced 5,511 cargo wagons in 2008, which is down by 0.8% YoY.

DNSS net loss UAH 374 mln in 4Q08: NEGATIVE

Ukrainian News, a news agency, reported on data provided in a Dniprospetsstal [DNSS UZ, U/R] AGM invitation. The FY08 net loss amounts to UAH 204 mln, or USD 38.7 mln (at FY08 USD/UAH average of 5.27).
